- A background in cyber security is required
The NIST framework is reputed to be the best and one of the most popular cyber risk management frameworks in existence today. In this course you are going to learn in full detail how to apply and manage this framework to any organization regardless of its size or cyber security budget allocation.
The course is divided into 3 main sections:
- Core Functions
- Practical Implementation
In the first section, we will take a look at a general introduction to the framework as well as a brief history on how it was created. We will also discuss 2 important aspects of the framework which are implementation tiers and profiles.
In section 2 we will discuss the 5 core functions which are Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond & Recover. We will also discuss all the main activities and tasks under each of these functions and how they are applied.
In the final chapter we will discuss how we can implement the framework practically. We will use a case study of a fictional tax firm and apply the framework to this organization. We will also discuss in full detail how the framework was successfully applied to the Biological Sciences Division of the University of Chicago.
By the end of this course, you would have learned everything you need to know about this wonderful framework and be able to work with it in any organization.
